Helen Crathorne worked as a singer/songwriter and session singer over a period of years, with musicians such as Herbie Armstrong, Paul Fields, Nick Beggs, Carrie and David Grant, Cliff Richard and Eric Clapton amongst others.
After a time away from the music business pursuing other vocations, in 2002 she began writing songs again. For some years this gift had lain still, until a series of events that unfolded prompted an overwhelming desire to sit down at the piano again – and one by one the songs began to flow! With the encouragement of others, the possibility of recording an album slowly dawned as it became increasingly clear that the songs were being inspired for reasons beyond understanding at that time! In 2004 ‘The Waiting’ was made, produced by Dave Cooke.
In listening to this album, our hope is that you hear the hope of God within each song – whatever the subject matter. These songs express the challenges of life, thread-through with the reality of a God who is who He says He is, whatever our circumstance.
There is power in and through music, often affecting us for the good through the harder times. Something of this may well encourage and touch your heart as you listen to ‘The Waiting’.
